Being A Student Is Probably Your Most Powerful Tool – by Rachel Doyle ’05
Looking back, as a student with an entrepreneurial endeavor, it gave me “unwritten” privileges to access people, resources and networks. First, being a Cornell student gave me access to not only speakers on campus and professors but to a vast set of alumni. Second, finding mentors or people to share advice with you after college is much harder. I think people view you more as a competitor or someone who should know certain things but as a student, your main job is to learn. Although, as an entrepreneur you should never lose the spirit to learn, take advantage of the opportunities you are practically handed as a student, and use them.
