Oct. 16: Groupon’s Regional Operations Director, Chen Chow Yeoh (’05), Speaks on Working in Startups in Asia

Chen Chow Yeoh (ECE, 2005) is the Regional Operations Director for Asia-Pacific at Groupon, a global leader in local commerce. He manages the day-to-day operations in 12-countries across the region, including Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, India and Southeast Asia. He also represents Groupon in providing strategic direction for Groupon’s investment in China. Previously, he worked for Jobstreet.com and Accenture. Aside from his business acumen, Chen Chow is committed to helping young people across Southeast Asia improve their educational opportunities by creating professional networks and support systems that connect them to top US universities where they can apply to complete their studies ( http://www.usapps.org )
Chen Chow is currently in the U.S. on a seven-week educational exchange program for mid-career professionals, Eisenhower Fellowships. On fellowships, he is exploring best practices for how to develop and online English language education program for children and youth across the region — meeting with educational technology innovators and experts, academics, other social entrepreneurs, technology startups and incubators, and education specialists.
Looking forward to his first trip back to Cornell, his Alma Mater, Chen Chow will give a presentation to interested students on startups and working in Asia on Wednesday, October 16 at 4:45 PM at 10 Phillips Hall. He hopes to spark a lively discussion among students, keeping things informal and participatory, and welcomes all questions and comments.
