The annual India Business Conference, hosted by the South Asia Business Association (SABA) at Columbia Business School is the premier India-focused conference in New York City and is a powerful forum that inspires thought leadership and generates discussions around the business, social, political and creative undercurrents that permeate India life. Over the last decade, the India Business Conference has enabled discourse around varied topics including driving growth on the foundation of structural reforms, maintaining momentum provided by the sustained success of the Information Technology sector, and having an honest conversation about the challenges inherent in the Indian political and democratic system. The ideas exchanged during past conferences have permeated the academic, political and social circles. As we considered the various themes surrounding India in the present times, we realized that in the midst of the current challenging environment, there is an inherent and untapped opportunity that serves as an inspiration to us all. In keeping with this sentiment, the theme of this year’s conference is Inspiring India.
During the 2014 India Business Conference, we will focus on the lessons India can learn from the West as it charts a new social and economic policy post-elections, delve into the key strategies relating to financial inclusion and equality, and look back at the last decade of successes and challenges.
Additionally, we will talk about the rise and rise of Indian cuisine in the global arena and discuss the pathways to making Indian cuisine a globally local cuisine.
Finally, we will discuss the contribution, role, and leadership of Indian entrepreneurship as it relates to not just the Indian context, but also the global context.
