As an exclusive program for Zoomdojo Young Professionals, The Anatomy of the Startup takes us on a deep dive with those who founded and funded startups. Speakers include clients of Lowenstein Sandler and our ZYP member Imri Eisner who have successfully launched startups; Imri and Sam Jacob (bio below) will also share their experiences as legal counsel and investor/banker to many startups, respectively.

Avra van der Zee is the General Counsel and Co-COO of Social Bicycles. Avra has an AB in History & Literature from Harvard College and a JD from Georgetown University. Before joining the SOBi team, Avra spent over four years as General Counsel of a building products manufacturing group and two years as a litigation associate at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton and Garrison. She loves all things Dutch design, especially the SoBi bicycle.
Jonathan Krane is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of KraneShares an asset management firm delivering China-focused exchange traded funds to global investors. KraneShares focuses on providing unique access and products for investors to gain exposure to the China equity and fixed income markets.Jonathan has spent the last ten years working with companies in China. He previously founded a leading media and entertainment company in China which was later sold to a publicly traded multi-national company.Jonathan Krane received an MBA from Columbia Business School (1999) and a BA from Connecticut College (1990). He is a member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO)
Imri Eisner is an attorney in Lowenstein Sandler LLP’s Tech Group, where he represents venture-backed companies and investors in corporate transactions including formation, early and late round financings, M&A transactions, and exits. Prior to joining Lowenstein, Imri spent seven years at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP as an associate in the Banking Group. Imri earned a BA in political science from the from the University of Pennsylvania and a BS in management from the Wharton School in 2001 and a JD from Cornell Law School in 2005, where he also served as Articles Editor on the Cornell Law Review.
Moderator: Carol Rattray is the Co-Founder Zoomdojo. She is also a private investor in start-ups. She was previously Managing Director of the Whitney Group, an executive search firm specializing in financial institutions in Tokyo and a Vice President in the Capital Markets Group of Bankers Trust Company in New York City. She is a co-founder of the Rattray Kimura Foundation, a member of the Board of Trustees of Bates College, The Asian Cultural Council and the Re Foundation, founded by Oscar and Grammy winner,Tan Dun. She is a member of the Cornell University College of Arts and Sciences, Dean’s Advisory Council and The Asia Foundation’s Women’s Empowerment Program Lotus Circle Advisors. Carol also mentors young entrepreneurs. She received a BA from Cornell University, and an MBA and MIA from Columbia University
